/ Valentin Statnik

He was born in 1964 in Khristoforovka settlement (Ulyanovsk district, Kirovograd Region, Ukraine).

 

In 1979 he entered Uman musical college in the French horn class, and in 1983 he entered Saratov Conservatory in the class of a docent A.T. Serdyuk.

 

Since 1984 he has been working in the orchestra of Saratov Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, and since 1991 has been a concertmaster of the French horns group.

 

In 2002–2003 Mr. Statnik worked according to a contract as a concertmaster of the French horns group in the symphonic orchestra of Shenzhen (China).

 

In 2003 he was invited to Brandt Brass Ensemble where he has been working till present.

 

Since 2003 Mr. Statnik was working as a docent of the orchestra brass and percussion chair of Saratov State Conservatory named after L.V. Sobinov. In 2010–2013 he was a head of the orchestra brass and percussion chair.

 

In 2008 Valentin Statnik was granted a title of Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation.

 

In different years he attended master-classes of the following musicians: V. Buyanovskiy, P. Orekhov, A. Demin, A. Shilkloper, W. Gaag, A. Skobelev, V. Margolin, K. Dannik, R. Dorrestein, M. Massong, M. Hoevs, and many others.

 

Laureate of the following competitions: 

- Ulyanovsk, 2001, International Brass Games, solo, brass quintet, 3rd place laureate;

- Ekaterinburg, 2007, 2nd International Trumpet Players Competition in honour of V.I. Schiolokov, Brandt Brass Ensemble, Grand Prix, special prize ‘For keeping and development of traditions of brass wind instruments playing’.

 

Worked with the following conductors: R. Matsov, F. Mansurov, Yu. Simonov, A. Anisimov, E. Serov, Yu. Kochnev, R. Manfreddini, D. Fisher, B. Ecklund, Gu Yun, Yo Feng, Ikuo Yamamoto, and many others.

 

Went on tour in: Germany, Poland, France, Belgium, Austria, Greece, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macao, and Kazakhstan
