/ Oleg Abramov
He was born in 1977 in Saratov and got involved in music at the age of 9. He took part in a children’s brass band of the House of Culture ‘Crystal’ conducted by P.P. Nikolaychuk.
In 1992 he entered the academy for gifted children and youth of Saratov Conservatory. While studying there he became a laureate of the international youth competition ‘Symphony’ (Volgograd). In 1995 he graduated from the academy ahead of schedule and entered Saratov Conservatory named after L.V. Sobinov to study trombone in the class of Honoured Art Worker of the Russian Federation, Professor B.G. Manzhora.
In 2000 after graduation from the conservatory he was recommended for the post-graduate course, which he finished in 2003 in the class of A.T. Skobelev, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, Professor of Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky.
Since 2001 he has been a soloist of the orchestra of Saratov Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, since 2008 – a concertmaster of the trombones group.
In 2003 Oleg Abramov’s initiative helped to found Brandt Brass Ensemble. It was the first musical band in Russia to work professionally in the genre of ten man brass. Mr. Abramov has been the art director of the Ensemble since its foundation till present.
Since 2003 Oleg Abramov has been occasionally working as a teacher of brass and percussion department of Saratov State Conservatory.
In different years he attended master-classes of the following musicians: A. Shilkloper, R. Bobo, S. Hartman, W. Gaag, M. Hoevs, V. Sumerkin, S. Mead, and many others.
Laureate of the following competitions:
- Ulyanovsk, 2001, International Brass Games, solo, brass quintet, 2nd place laureate;
- Kazan, 2004, 1st Russian Brass Ensembles Competition, trombone quartet, 2nd place laureate;
- Ekaterinburg, 2007, 2nd International Trumpet Players Competition in honour of V.I. Schiolokov, Brandt Brass Ensemble, Grand Prix, special prize ‘For keeping and development of traditions of brass wind instruments playing’.
Worked with the following conductors: V. Gergiev, F. Mansurov, Yu. Simonov, V. Jardania, R. Matsov, E. Serov, M. Tatarnikov, Yu. Kochnev, M. Mandorano, D. Fisher, B. Ecklund, and many others.
Went on tour in: Spain, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Thailand, France, Austria, Switzerland, Greece,South Korea, China, Kazakhstan.« back
